Jeffrey Mulyono is a distinguished leader in Indonesia’s mining industry, with more than four decades of experience spanning operations, corporate leadership, and strategic advisory. A graduate of Mining Engineering from the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), he has held key executive and board-level positions across major mining and energy companies, including serving as President Director of PT Berau Coal.
Throughout his career, Jeffrey has been widely recognized not only for his operational excellence, but also for his forward-thinking approach to sustainable mining. He consistently emphasizes that mining must go beyond resource extraction—delivering long-term value through responsible environmental management, strong safety practices, and meaningful community impact.
One of his most defining contributions is his pioneering role in community development within the mining sector. Long before it became a regulatory requirement, Jeffrey introduced structured programs focused on education, healthcare, and local economic empowerment—driven by his direct exposure to the realities faced by communities around mining areas.

In addition to his corporate roles, Jeffrey has played an influential role in shaping Indonesia’s mining industry through his leadership as Chairman of the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI-ICMA), as well as his involvement in various industry organizations and policy discussions. His contributions have helped advance the adoption of good mining practices and strengthen collaboration between industry stakeholders.
In recognition of his lifelong dedication and impact, Jeffrey Mulyono was awarded the prestigious Coaltrans Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024. Today, he continues to contribute as a trusted advisor and thought leader, advocating for a more responsible, sustainable, and community-centered mining industry.
Professional Journey
Jeffrey began his career at PT United Tractors Tbk in 1980, where he spent 16 years developing deep expertise in heavy equipment, logistics, and mining-related operations. This early experience provided him with a strong technical and operational foundation.
His career trajectory accelerated as he took on leadership roles across major companies in the mining and energy sector, including:

Beyond corporate roles, Jeffrey has played a significant part in shaping Indonesia’s mining industry through leadership positions in key associations:
- Chairman, Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI-ICMA) – Two Terms (2003–2009)
- Chairman, Indonesian Mining Association (IMA)
- Chairman, Forum on Post-Mining Forest Reclamation
During his tenure at APBI, he worked closely with the government to significantly increase Indonesia’s coal production while promoting better industry practices and governance.
